Job Purpose: An Apprentice Business Support Officer is required to join our busy school office, to provide front line administrative support. The successful candidate will be working within the Main School Office and will support the school providing routine support to teachers, pupils and parents.
Key Accountabilities
The Apprentice Business Support Officer will work under the direction and guidance of the Office Manager. The successful candidate will:
1. Provide general clerical and administrative support, including word processing, minute taking, filing routine correspondence, distributing mail etc.
2. Routine financial administration, including petty cash, postage, banking etc.
3. Maintain and update manual and computerized records including, for example, records of free school meals, school trips, registers, examinations etc including related financial administration.
4. Administer work experience arrangements.
5. Produce regular management information, including financial data and assist in the production of reports for the senior leadership team.
6. Monitor monthly budgets and advise senior staff on variances.
7. Undertake reconciliations, for example of bank accounts and petty cash and of the purchase ledger control account.
8. Undertake reception duties including answering telephone and responding to routine queries, including, where appropriate, dealing with visitors on behalf of the Headteacher.
9. Be the first point of contact regarding teacher absences or contact with supply agency.
10. Maintain stock and order supplies, including the processing of orders, check of incoming deliveries, obtaining prices from occasional suppliers, arranging for payment of invoices and the distribution and storage of stock.
11. Provide administrative support for the school Library provision.
12. Offer general welfare support, where required, including the responsibility for pursuing pupil absence with parents including recording and monitoring of absence and production of reports.

Educational Requirements
Applicants wishing to apply for this position should ideally have GCSE Maths and English at grade C/ Grade 4 or equivalent although this is not an essential requirement for the role.
