Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to join a dynamic manufacturing team at a leading site in Huddersfield. This role will focus on observing and improving existing manufacturing processes, reducing waste, and optimizing equipment efficiency. While most of the role will require on-site presence, some documentation and paperwork can be completed remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
Work primarily on the manufacturing floor to observe and assess existing processes. Identify areas of waste in current operations and propose methods to eliminate inefficiencies. Improve manufacturing equipment and processes to enhance productivity. Apply industrial engineering techniques such as line balancing, time studies, and Single-Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) to reduce downtime and improve output. Collaborate with the larger Manufacturing team to align process improvements with overall production goals. Utilize tools like Excel to track data and analyze process performance. Ensure all improvements align with company safety and quality standards.
Essential Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes: You must have a deep understanding of various manufacturing techniques, though not necessarily mechanical-specific. Previous experience in Industrial Engineering: Proven experience with methodologies such as line balancing, time studies, and SMED reduction. Proficient in Excel: Strong skills in using Excel for data analysis and process tracking.
Preferred Qualifications:
Apprentice-trained: Candidates who have completed an engineering apprenticeship are preferred. Experience with AutoCAD: Familiarity with AutoCAD for process and layout design would be advantageous.
