Salary Details: Up to £38,000 per annum- Dependent on skills & experience

Brief description of job:
Greenfields school are looking for two nurture teachers to work in the school’s nurture classrooms known as ‘The Pod’. Each teacher will take responsibility for a class of learners either currently working at KS2 or KS3 level. Although primary trained teachers typically do not deliver KS3, we are looking for an individual with primary based experience who could deliver KS3 material to a very small class (up to 5 pupils) to allow the learners to work in a single room environment for much of their school day. Learners may still visit other classrooms for subjects including PE and Expressive Arts. This Job Description incorporates the professional duties of a teacher as set out in the Conditions of Employment as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and relevant aspects of the National SEN Specialist Standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* To maintain an up to date understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) principles, definitions and basic practice. This includes an awareness of the roles and responsibilities of those who contribute to SEN programmes.
* To effectively Co-ordinate the work within the nurture class, covering all subject areas and cross-curricular themes, in conjunction with Subject Leaders as set out in the curriculum policy.
* To communicate and consult with parents/carers and other appropriate people, participating in student focused meetings as required.
* Being familiar with curriculum requirements and making full use of assessment information to develop, adapt and evaluate teaching strategies to give maximum benefit to students with SEN
* Identifying appropriate learning outcomes and developing a range of approaches which reduce barriers arising from impairments and help students to attain achievable targets.
* Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to make best use of expertise.
You will have:
* Knowledge of specific subject area(s) to be taught (all areas of the curriculum for Wales KS2)
* Knowledge of the learning process and good educational practice.
* Knowledge of learning disabilities and/or special needs relevant to the establishment.
* Ability to form & promote positive relationships with young people
* Ability to plan and prepare educational activities to meet specified needs and review their effectiveness.
* Ability to demonstrate a range of good teaching technique.

Who we are:
Greenfields school: Located in Bassaleg, Newport supporting learners aged 9-16 with learning differences. The school is registered to provide education for up to 20 pupils, who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD). We cater for a mix of residential and day placements.
