We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Water Resources Planner to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to work on a variety of projects related to water resources strategic planning and environmental sustainability. The successful candidate will be covering South West Water, Bristol Water, Bournemouth Water and Isles of Scilly regions. You will receive a competitive salary of circa £34,000 to £36,500 plus an excellent benefits package.
About the team:
Our Water Resources Strategy team support the development and implementation of comprehensive water resources management strategies, covering the South West Water, Bristol Water, Bournemouth Water and Isles of Scilly regions. They are responsible for creating the long-term Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) to ensure future demand can be met, the Drought Management Plan and supporting environmental investigations. They will be the guiding mind for our 50 year strategy and help to shape the investment cases for long term water resource options for the operating regions. What you'll be doing:
* You will support the Senior Water Resource planners in producing key deliverables (such as the WRMP) to a high standard.
* Interpret the results of modelling undertaken by the Modelling Data and Systems team to forecast future water availability, and the extent to which it is impacted by factors such as climate, water quality, and environmental sustainability.
* Support the assessment and prioritisation of water resources projects, such as reservoirs, treatment plants, and distribution systems to meet the future water demands and enhance system resilience.
* Review data around future water availability and liaise with stakeholders to ensure the future needs of water users and the environment are met.
* You will contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and technical documents.
* You will be involved in preparation of company annual reviews to evaluate performance against the WRMP.
What we are looking for:
* Scientific/ Environmental/ related Degree
* Familiarity with water resources planning
* A developing understanding of using water resources system models such as Miser, Aquator or PYWR
* Experience of stakeholder engagement and collaboration
* Experience of working in a regulatory environment – e.g. regulatory reporting and compliance
