About The Role
We are looking for a Retail Supermarket Compliance Auditor (Safe & Legal Auditor) to join our diverse team. The successful candidate will ensure our stores operational compliance through the Safe & Legal audit programme, ensuring the company is protected from reputational risk and enforcement action (latter may incur unlimited fines and removal of licences to operate).
The ideal candidate will live centrally to the audit allocation areas listed here & have good access to them all. Norwich, Cambridgeshire, Essex, London, Kent, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Surrey.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who travels to a different store each day to conduct the full Safe & Legal audit, theyll liaise with the Regional Compliance Managers & support their agenda to drive improvements.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
1. Conduct Technical Safe and Legal Audits in accordance with the Audit Protocol to identify stores risk rating and communicate findings and remedial Action Plans to store and Regional Management
2. Conduct primary and re-Audits within agreed frequency and timescales
3. Active member of the audit consistency programme.
4. Provide support to Training stores, to ensure they trade safely and legally through delivering proactive and reactive training/coaching of applicable company policies and procedures. Deliver centres of excellence for our new Managers to train in.
5. Build strong relationships with the retail management teams.
6. Work in partnership with Regional Compliance Managers to ensure that serious hazards are addressed
7. Where capacity permits & there is a need to conduct investigations, follow ups, support visits as required on an adhoc basis. Note. The primary role is auditing.
8. Ensuring own competence is maintained and developed
9. Provide stores and sites with coaching and guidance on correct and efficient implementation of safe and legal policies and procedures to assist them to operate and trade safely and legally
10. Audit programme planned and delivered to minimise travel and other costs
11. Maintains own expenditure within agreed budgetary limits
12. Conduct Fire Risk Assessments to support Regional Compliance Managers (full training will be provided)
13. Attend & participate in team meetings and updates.
14. Deliver an annual project to drive performance improvements in Retail.

15. Expert knowledge of Supermarket safe and legal systems acquired through their practical application
16. Experience of carrying out audits of medium/high complexity
17. Familiar with the retail environment with proven ability to assimilate complex operational procedures
18. Lead Auditor or other recognised audit qualification (desirable, training will be provided)
19. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
20. High integrity & morals you are driven to do the right thing
21. Ability to present information in a clear, concise manner.
22. The ability to influence, engage and communicate with people at all levels
23. Assertive, with an ability to remain positive and maintain high professional standards under pressure
24. Self-motivated, with excellent time management and prioritisation
25. The ability to champion the customer and retain a customer focus whilst keeping compliance at the forefront
