Newton Stewart Health Centre
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Health Visitor with current Specialist Community Public Health Nursing registration to join our Health Visiting team in Newton Stewart, on a Fixed Term basis from July 2024 for a period of 9 months.
We are looking for a candidate with experience and understanding of the needs of children and families, and a good knowledge of Scotlands Public Health agenda, including Getting it Right for Every Child, The Promise, and the Children and Young Peoples Act 2014. Candidates will work in partnership with families, local authorities and a range of stakeholders to deliver high quality, evidence based person-centred care. Candidates will be required to utilise a strengths based approach to engage families, be able to identify risks and have experience of co-ordinating complex plans of care for children.
If you are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of children and families and can deliver compassionate care, we would love to hear from you.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway offer opportunities for career development, management and public protection supervision; as well as regular training opportunities.
The post will involve home visits to remote and rural areas; therefore a current driving licence is essential. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
