The Role
Reporting to the Product Realisation Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Verification Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You’ll have expertise in both software and hardware verification and be responsible for testing software, conducting hardware tests, and managing the operation of lab equipment.
What will I be delivering?
The role will cover a number of areas including:
* Testing a number of exciting technologies and components: Ethernet, PCIe, Microcontrollers, FPGA, Low-level Communication Interfaces (SPI, I2C, RS232, RS485, MIL-STD-1553).
* BIOS, IPMI, Linux Test Software, UEFI Applications, LinuxBSPs.
* Conduct thorough software / firmware testing, following testing specifications, to ensure functionality is as intended.
* Perform hardware testing on various components, products and systems utilising lab tools and electronics equipment.
* Setup and operate environmental testing equipment as part of verification testing.
Verification Planning:
* Develop, implement, and execute test plans and test cases.
* Collaborate with other engineering teams to formulate test strategies and methodologies.
Verification Testing:
* Analyse and interpret test results as well as document findings for review.
* Gathering relevant debug information during testing, which aids in problem resolution and process improvement.
* Document failures during testing by creating reports and tickets to track and manage issues efficiently.
* Understand and maintain testing documentation and processes.
* Work collaboratively with design engineers to validate hardware designs.
* Provides support for debugging and resolving issues found during testing in collaboration with engineering teams.
Lab Technician:
* Manage and optimise testing suites for efficient verification processes.
* Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory to ensure availability and proper equipment utilisation.
What do I need to bring with me?
Demonstrated knowledge and experience:
* Appreciation for verification requirements and methodologies in embedded computer systems.
* Familiarity with Linux operating systems and programming.
* Understanding of embedded single board computers and their essential components.
* Experience with using lab equipment, like oscilloscopes and temperature probes.
* High organisational abilities for inventory management and documentation of testing processes and results.
* Strong analytical skills for evaluating testing outcomes and defect analysis.
* Excellent communication skills to convey findings to team members.
* Knowledge of design proving processes.
* Familiar with various test software and test suites for Ethernet.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with Intel CPUs, x86_64 / ARM / RISC-v architectures.
