Job Title: Democratic Services and Mayoralty Administrator Location of work: Town Hall, Reigate / Opportunity to work from home Salary: £24,111 - £25,152 (£24,713 - £25,781 from 1st April 2025) Basis: Full time, 9-month fixed term contract with possibility of extension (Maternity cover) Hours: 36 hours per week (occasional evening and weekend work) About the role At Reigate & Banstead Borough Council we are proud of our reputation as a well-run and ambitious Council. We are recruiting a Democratic Services and Mayoralty Administrator to provide high-quality administrative support for Councillors, senior officers and colleagues within the Mayoralty and Democratic Services department and develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders within a politically sensitive environment. Responsibilities of the role: Assist the Mayoralty and Democratic teams with administrative tasks. Maintain accurate files. Update documents and web pages as necessary. Raise purchase requisitions. Respond to general email and telephone enquiries. Book in visitors and arrange facilities. Signpost internal and external enquiries to the correct person or to the relevant information on our website. Support an evening Full Council meeting (approx. 7-8 per year), time off in lieu to be given. Support the organisation and running of events e.g. Annual Council, Aldermanic and Freemen installations, Fund raising events and Civic events (e.g. Remembrance Sunday) Assist the wider Democratic Services team with the creation and distribution of the weekly Members’ bulletin. Process and co-ordinate invitations for the Mayor’s attendance and requests for visits to the Town Hall. About the person: Our ideal candidate will have: Excellent organisational skills and time management skills. Excellent IT skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in minute-taking. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. An understanding of democratic procedures and principles. Experience of supporting the planning, organisation and delivery of events.
