As our Senior Stakeholder Manager, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share. Your World of Expertise
The purpose of this role is to support the coordination of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) partner activities, one of the three strands within AI 4 Everyone - (AICommsSite). This will involve understanding current and future Partnership activities and coordinating within teams across the National Capability domain. It also plays a key role in supporting the development of the associated AI and ML skills needed in the Met Office. One example of this includes leading work packages 1 (exchanges) and 4 (communications) of the Transatlantic Data Science Academy.
Your Key Duties
* Work closely with the Head of Science Partnerships and Chief AI Officer to support the Met Office's ML/AI partnership activities and capabilities within 'AI 4 National Capability', ensuring they are effective and coordinated.
* Build and maintain insights on ML/AI partnerships within 'AI 4 National Capability', ensuring through research, analysis reports and briefings.
* Lead two work packages of the Transatlantic Data Science Academy project: Work Package 1 - identifying collaborative projects, hackathons and exchanges, and Work Package 4 - Academy Communications, with the role evolving as we implement the Academy in the coming year.
* Undertake or support additional activities which allow the Met Office to build ML/AI partnerships in a coordinated way.

As our Senior Stakeholder Manager, your total reward package will be up to £57,639 annually, which includes:
* £41,725 base pay
* An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
* Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
Essential Criteria, Skills and Experience:
* Strong stakeholder relationship management skills including the ability to build trust and maintain mutually beneficial relationships across multiple teams internal and external to the Met Office.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail and a proven ability to succinctly summarise papers, represent at international meetings, and influence stakeholders, including some at senior level.
* Able to spot, prioritise and deliver multiple risks and opportunities in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
* Self-motivated with strong organisational skills and a proven ability to manage a challenging workload, respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
* Excellent analytical skills with proven ability to understand issues quickly, simplify complexity and provide insight and recommendations.
* Good understanding of the strategic objectives of the Met Office, knowledge of the Met Office's operational, research and business activities and an ability to relate these to the activities of our stakeholders.
