Lead Civil Engineer (Defence) - Contract (Ongoing)
£60 - 70 per hour (DOE) - Inside IR35
Glasgow - Hybrid
Our client is an international engineering consultancy with excellent opportunities in the Defence industry for a Lead Civil Engineer on a contract basis.
The Lead Civil Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, supporting operations and future programs at client sites.
Responsibilities
1. Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned project.
2. Manage contractor engineering support to the project.
3. Support project optioneering process.
4. Review and accept project drawings and documentation.
5. Manage detailed design activities in accordance with HMNB (Clyde) standards.
6. Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors work instruction/method statements/risk assessments.
7. Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
8. Specify and provide technical supervision of commissioning and/or decommissioning.
9. Liaise and consult with stakeholders throughout project life cycle to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
10. Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments, and support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality on Site.
11. The post holder will be expected to support delivery within his or her range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence.
12. Contribute to the effective development and delivery of training within own area of specialism.
Key Experience/Qualifications
1. Experience of developing design assurance for complex projects.
2. Experience in civil engineering for complex projects.
3. Experience in stakeholder engagement throughout the engineering lifecycle.
4. Experience in the defence sector.
5. Experience in engineering lifecycle management.
6. Demonstrable suitable qualifications and experience relating to marine and mechanical engineering.
7. Accredited Degree in an appropriate 'STEM' discipline (or equivalent qualification and experience).
