Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytical Chemist to join our team in Guildford, United Kingdom. In this role, you will lead complex analytical projects, develop and validate innovative methods, and contribute to the advancement of our analytical capabilities.
* Design, develop, and verify analytical methods for a wide range of chemical compounds
* Prepare and authorise assessments/protocols and technical reports.
* Conduct sophisticated analyses using advanced analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, and Karl Fischer
* Interpret complex analytical data and prepare comprehensive technical reports
* Troubleshoot and optimise analytical procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
* Mentor junior scientists and provide technical guidance to the analytical team
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and quality systems
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and procedures
* Work closely with other Senior Analytical Chemists to ensure all the work within the MHRA Laboratories is completed satisfactorily, and that staff are treated fairly and developed as required.
* Liaise with the customer to update on progress, plan work and provide technical advice and guidance.
* Technical representation of MHRA laboratories at customer meetings as required.
Qualifications
* You will have a sound background in Chemistry, to at least degree level with extensive practical experience in HPLC. Extensive hands-on experience with advanced analytical techniques such as GC, IR, Karl Fischer, UV spectrometry and titration are desirable but not essential.
* Proven track record in method development, validation, and transfer
* Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with proficiency Excel.
* Previous experience with Openlab is desirable, but not essential
* Extensive practical experience in the use of at least three of the above techniques within an ISO/IEC 17025, GLP, cGMP or equivalent laboratory environment is essential.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Strong organisational and time management abilities
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of the workings of the pharmacopoeias is essential
* Chartered Chemist status, or MRSC membership or eligibility for professional certification is desirable
* Proven track record of leading projects and mentoring junior team members
