Job Description To provide specialist and professional Air Traffic Operations Assistant support to the Edinburgh unit including a wide area of responsibilities. A minimum training requirement will be prepared and will depend on previous experience. Job holders will be required to work shifts, including nights. Primary Responsibilities Provide operational support to the air traffic control operation at Edinburgh Airport. Providing operational support to Controllers in the VCR. Making routine and special MET Observations using SAMOS equipment. Promoting and maintaining a harmonious and effective working relationship with Edinburgh Airport Limited staff and with airline customers. Processing Flight plan messages to AFTN/HCS. Providing a customer assistance and briefing service as required. Liaising with internal and external agencies whilst performing VCR support duties. Receipt and filtering of telephone calls from other organisations and members of the public. Support the Operations Department with Document control and production in line with ANSL CMM and Quality Management processes. Support project teams within ANSL and related departments within Edinburgh Airport or other change partners to support the implementation of procedures and projects. Support the investigation of incidents (subject to completion of suitable training). When requested, ‘log-taking’ during an incident (subject to completion of suitable training). If required, conduct investigations and liaise with other agencies who may be involved (subject to completion of appropriate training). Support the Operations Department in managing the CTB security access system. Support the Operations Department in the management of staff lockers. Support the Operations Department in booking necessary training with EAL (e.g. airside driving). Co-ordinate visits to the operational tower with the Head of ATS/Manager ATC. Support maintaining the unit organisational charts and unit telephone list. Ensuring that correct insurance and H&S documentation is displayed. Purchasing of goods, maintaining stock levels, distribution and liaising with ANSL procurement and/or suppliers. Support the Operations Department in the management of CTB facilities, including maintenance, fire safety, H&S, provision of first aid cover (subject to suitable training), and work with EAL / contractors to resolve any issues quickly and effectively. Extracting data from operational systems as required. Opening and distributing post, arranging couriers and out-going mail. Ad hoc administrational duties as and when required. Provide support to the ATC Simulator as a “Pseudo Pilot” to ensure ATCO training and development is in accordance with Unit Competence Scheme (UCS) and in support of the Unit Training Plan (UTP) (subject to completion of suitable training). Communicate with ANS stakeholders including but not limited to the CAA, our customers, Airlines, community representatives and internal stakeholders. Attend and present at senior management meetings and relevant ad-hoc internal meetings as requested. Personal Specification Qualifications/Experience Previous OA experience would be desirable but not essential. Previous experience within a TMA operation is desirable but not essential. Advanced communication skills, both written (reports, instructions etc.) and verbal.
