The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the firm's credit, market, liquidity, operational and capital risk. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm's counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firm's success. CREDIT RISK MANAGEMENT
Credit Risk Management (CRM) is a central part of the Goldman Sachs risk management framework, with primary responsibility for assessing, monitoring and managing credit risk at the Firm. CRM is staffed globally with offices including New York, London, Frankfurt, Salt Lake City, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
As a member of CRM, you will interface with a variety of divisions around the firm (Legal, Compliance, Operations, etc.) as well as the other regional CRM offices. The interaction with numerous departments and the diverse projects that ensue allow for a challenging, varied and multi-dimensional work environment. We partner with other divisions in the firm and externally with clients to support the firm's wide array of banking and trading business. CRM professionals are part of the value proposition of the firm and we balance our key functional responsibility of control with that of being commercial. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assess the credit and financial strength of the firm's borrowers and counterparts by performing fundamental credit analysis using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
2. Review lending and derivative underwriting transactions, determine risk appetite and regulatory ratings, having developed an independent view of cash flow projections and of key documentation protection.
3. Perform sector analysis regularly in order to assess portfolio concentrations or trends.
4. Coordinate with Investment Banking/Financing group, Sales & Trading, Legal, Operations and Compliance departments to approve derivatives business and ensure appropriate documentation, limits and risk mitigants to protect against a counterpart default and minimize potential losses.
5. Analyse the risks inherent in the products GS transacts, including lending, trading and derivative products.
6. Develop and manage relationships with other areas of the firm, including Global Banking & Markets, Asset and Wealth Management, Controllers, Treasury, Legal, Compliance and Technology.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1. Minimum of 5 years of credit risk management experience, with a background in Natural Resources / Commodities focused credit risk.
2. Significant experience in investment banking and trading products including loan products and derivatives.
3. Proven track record of independent decision making and the ability to steer client and business negotiations.
4. Strong familiarity with regulatory rating requirements and application of such guidance.
5. Strong documentation (loan and derivatives), analytical, presentational and communication skills required.
6. Must be able to lead and motivate engaged and diverse deal team, providing guidance to and supervision of junior members of the team.
7. Must be able to communicate at the most senior levels.
