Roles and Responsibilities
Overview:
* To undertake all in-house painting and decorating tasks as directed by the central Facilities Help Desk and Head of Facilities.
* Working as part of the wider facilities department, fulfilling and working with contractors within similar fields on project work.
* To work flexibly as part of a team and assist all other departments when necessary to enable the venue to operate effectively.
Other duties:
* Carry out decorating tasks throughout the venue including painting, decorating, repairs, and woodwork repairs.
* Ensure all workstations are prepared and finished to a high standard.
* Work to a schedule and be flexible about prioritising work which will be supported by the in-house Help Desk management system.
* Work with and assist external contractors or other project work within a similar field.
* Identify and report concerns and repair work via the facilities report system.
* Maintain awareness and adhere to current best work practices that conform to health and safety regulations and legislation.
* Provide assistance to the wider facilities team and Head of Facilities within their skill set.
* Provide cover on match days for general maintenance in accordance with the facilities rota.
* Work a 40-hour shift pattern (including an hour unpaid lunch) across weekends to cover the Arena’s programme of special events and match days.
* Assist the team in carrying out pre-match and post-match checks for all sporting events or major events in all designated areas as determined by the Head of Facilities.
* Any other duties deemed reasonable for the role.
Qualifications:
* Qualified minimum NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating desirable.
* Possess a City and Guilds qualification or equivalent training desirable.
Experience:
* Minimum 2 years of practical experience working in large commercial buildings, stadiums, exhibition halls, multi-function facilities, hotels, or similar within a similar role.
Aptitude, Skills, and Abilities:
* Be able to work on their own initiative.
* To drive and possess a full driving license.
* Ability to work as part of a multi-skilled team and meet deadlines.
* A flexible approach to work and types of work to be undertaken.
* Be able to work at height (IPAF licence would be an advantage).
* To have adequate communication skills both verbal and written.
* Complete work administration sheets and separate handheld ODA to receive and sign off tasks from online maintenance software.
Knowledge:
* Knowledge of good painting and decorating techniques and working practices to work safely.
* Awareness of relevant Building Regulations and codes of practice desirable.
* Must have a flexible approach and a willingness to train and be developed to meet future needs of the department.
* Awareness of and a commitment to the legal requirement for health and safety.
