An exciting new opportunity has become available for a carers advisor role within the Older Person Mental Health Inpatient service in Portsmouth. This role will be based at The Limes at St James Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to work as part of the team to enhance our offer to our carers. Our aim is to transform the way our carers are supported while patients are in hospital suffering with mental illness.
We aim to attract and retain a committed workforce who are caring and compassionate and therefore able to meet the demands of a modern NHS. We are looking for someone who is passionate, motivated and innovative and can be our carers lead. The main part of the role will involve working directly with carers and families, including 1-1 group and family work.
Our aim is for our carer and families to be pivotal in developing a culture change in our wider community.
Main duties of the job
1. To initiate, establish and maintain relationships with families and carers in a variety of settings, while developing trust and rapport.
2. Act as a coach and mentor to families and carers by providing information about support and services available for them, ensuring they have carers communication plans where required.
3. Work collaboratively with inpatient/CRHT/CMHT to support carers via 1:1 support or group settings.
4. To work within The Triangle of Care standards and undertake self-assessments and action plans.

Qualifications
* GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent.
* Qualification at NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Foundation degree level education in relevant subject or equivalent experience.
