Bath-Brunswick Veterinary Associates, Inc is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team!
Location: 257 Bath Road, Brunswick, Maine 04011
Shift Details: This is a full-time position (30+ hours/week). Typical schedule includes 4 - 10 hour shifts or 5 - 8 hour shifts per week. No weekends currently.
Compensation: $17 - $19
Skills: We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant who is proficient with restraint of dogs and cats. We need someone that understands medical terminology, excels at multitasking, and is adaptable. The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning new skills, maintaining a positive attitude, and continuously growing within the field of veterinary medicine.

Full-time team members will be awarded additional PTO based on their years of service.
Holiday Pay 48 hours to apply towards 6 recognized holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day). The holiday PTO hours can be used at the team member’s discretion to cover the actual holiday as observed by the hospital or other absences with approval from their Manager.

Responsibilities
How you'll make an impact:
* Assist the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in all of their duties.
* Help to prepare animals for exams and surgery.
* Aid in performing medical treatments.
* Perform or prepare laboratory tests.
* Administer medications under the direction of a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.
* Obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens (cytology, blood draws, blood smear, fecal, etc.).
* Work in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs.
* Handle animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous, and tactful manner, and inform staff and clients of any pertinent medical information related to animal care.
* Maintain a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant and clean facility for the animals.
Qualifications
Physical demands and work environment:
* Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker. Requires sufficient ambulatory skills.
* Ability to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high.
* Routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
* Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
* Able to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members.
