Smiths Hire are the Northwest’s Largest Independent Equipment Hire Company with 17 Hire It Centres located across the Region. We are currently looking for a self-sufficient IT & Software Manager to join our Head Office team.
As an IT and Software Manager, you will be managing the IT for our Blackpool Head office and all 18 Depots to support all staff on IT-related aspects of support, configuration, and development, including software integration, hardware procurement, repair, and data analysis.
The role of our IT and Software Manager is to manage all IT including:
* Server Management – this mainly entails monitoring and using basic functions like setting up new users and configuring email. We have a company responsible for the server, and this aspect is about managing to ensure the support company is doing their job.
* Data management – More advanced skills required, including the ability to use or learn to use Crystal Reports, Excel pivot tables, SQL Database management, and designing reports.
* Hardware – We have an I.T. Support person capable of resolving most PC and Printer hardware issues, but all devices need a service schedule managed by this role. An ability to identify and resolve issues is also required.
* Software – Sourcing, purchasing, and renewing software like virus protection, Microsoft products, and various third-party software.
* Software management – ensuring all software updates and renewals are managed.
* Daily, Weekly, and Monthly housekeeping of all systems as well as hardware maintenance and management.
* Communication (telephones) – managing the current communications structure and resolving issues, with full support from the providers.
* Travel to depots to update or solve an IT, phone, or CCTV-related issue; a Full UK Driving Licence is required.
While we don’t expect an expert in all the above, we need a person who can adapt and learn to solve issues as they arise. Some of the main software and systems we use are:
* Power BI
* Microsoft Office packages
* SharePoint
* Syrinx (Our bespoke hire software) - training to be provided
* Antivirus
This is a full-time role based at our Blackpool Head office, working hours are Monday to Friday.
