We have a very exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a NightShift Manager at our Chelmsford Mail Centre, helping us to continue to improve and deliver the best service.
Reporting to the Plant manager, the Shift Manager is a member of the Plant management team and is responsible for the operation across the shift, leading the successful achievement of safety, quality of service, financial, automation and employee targets. The Shift Manager has a vital role in developing and delivering the Plant operating plan
The role
This is a role where you can take control and make a difference. On every shift, employees and engineers will look to you to lead the way. You'll motivate them to achieve their best every day and also work with them over time to help them develop and reach their potential. It'll be up to you to help the team to meet a range of operational targets, each one critical to improving our offering to customers, saving them money on a fast, high quality service.
Other accountabilities:
:Take a lead role in one of the process strands (safety, quality, delivery, cost, people or environment).
:Coach, develop, support and engage the managerial and frontline team to achieve a high level of personal effectiveness and team performance.
:Responsible for 2nd/3rd line level HR processes, e.g. conduct, performance and attendance.
:Responsible for Health and Safety compliance for the shift; creating a working environment where frontline managers take responsibility for safety and wellbeing.
:Proactive management of key interfaces with other Shift Managers, Collection and Delivery Managers, the Logistics Manager and regional stakeholders
Attendance22:15 : 06:27, Monday to Friday. A degree of flexibility is required to meet operational demands.
Skills and experience required
We are looking for candidates who are flexible, can work under pressure and possess excellent leadership and communication skills. As a leader within the business, you must demonstrate evidence on your CV of the following:
:Proven experience of successfully running a large operation andleading, inspiring and engaginga large team at 2nd line manager level.
:Knowledge of automation, automation performance metrics and the role of engineering in effective automation performance.
:PIC trained and experience of safety tools and techniques.
:In depth understanding of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques, deploying major change and successfully leading people through change.
:Strong communication, facilitation, people management and development skills.
:Ability to build effective relationships with a range of senior stakeholders to achieve business benefit.
:Planning skills/project management : able to develop a plan, understand the risks, monitor progress and deployment to time with benefits achieved.
:Data analysis and problem solving : ability to evaluate process performance, using KPIs/metrics, identify trends and shifts in performance and develop solutions.
:IT literacy of basic office systems.
