Entity: Technology Job Family Group: Research & Technology Group Job Description: We have an exciting new role to join the Applied Sciences and Technology Quality Assurance Centre of Excellence as an Expert Technologist QA. This role is primarily responsible for delivering all aspects of Supplier Quality for Castrol on an ongoing basis in line with OMS 6.4, the Quality Management System and Quality Policy to ensure that the business’ products, raw materials, and services are fit for purpose and meet customer expectations. You will be responsible for ensuring that suppliers ensure procedures and processes are adhered to, emphasize defect prevention and consistency, support continuous improvement, and implement the best practice, and minimize quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction. Responsible for providing support to the Procurement team on supplier quality continuous improvement initiatives, highlighting trends, emerging risks, and proposing mitigations through the QA COE. The role also provides support to other agreed priorities in the QA COE including QA assessments, root cause investigations (RCA), quality manual and procedure updates, training and external audits and assessments. Key Accountabilities Strategy Lead supplier development strategy, designing the metrics for supplier quality performance. Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Supplier Quality activities. Lead/Support supplier quality CI Initiatives and support Procurement, Technology and other functions to drive supplier quality strategy. Supplier Quality Approval Manage quality approval of suppliers, including review of quality questionnaires and coordination of supplier quality audits via external audit provider. Lead supplier audits/visits when required. Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities. Ensure robust root cause analysis and corrective and preventative action (CAPA) progressed by supplier in response to audit nonconformances, opportunities for improvement (OFI) and quality trends. Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and/or corrective actions verification of supplier quality issues, when required. Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) Where appropriate work with the supplier directly to create corrective action plans aimed to address process failures Change Control Coordinate the impact assessment of any changes to existing suppliers/raw materials/finished goods including formal management of change and raw material deletion processes. Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact. Support new product launches to ensure suppliers can deliver to the required quality standards. Supplier Performance Management Track supplier quality performance, identify areas for improvement, monitor progress and ensure improvements are implemented. Support procurement with Supplier Performance Management (SPM) program. Review and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain. Monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance understanding any commercial issues and impacts Manage the Supplier Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends What do we want to see from you Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Proven experience in Quality Assurance, including supplier quality management proven experience in auditing, RCA and CAPA management proven experience with IATF 16949 (formally ISO/TS 16949) and customer specific standards ((e.g. VDA, QS 9000, Ford Q1, VW Formel-Q). Significant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive Experience of dealing with OEM customers and suppliers Skills & Competencies Good written and verbal English skills Focus on Company behaviors (safety, respect, excellence, courage, one team) Capability to work with geographically diverse team of stakeholders Self-motivated, willing to learn and consider different practices Skills in problem solving and networking, especially in interfacing with other functions (Procurement, Technology, Applied Sciences, GSC) Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with teams and networks Skills in anticipating and managing changes Quality skilled knowledge Auditing, RCA/8D and CAPA management Certified ISO 9001/IATF16949 lead auditor, ideally VDA 6.3 auditor certification Six Sigma/Lean skills HSSE basic knowledge Why join our team?
