An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic nurse to join the Macmillan Breast Cancer team to support the delivery of Breast Specialist Nursing care to patients across the Bradford region. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain and develop their knowledge of caring for breast cancer patients at all stages of the care pathway.

Liaises with line manager and MDT colleagues to support and develop their own skills and competencies in providing holistic care for patients within their specialist area.

Person Specification
Experience
* Minimum 3 years post registration
* Experience of working with breast cancer or Oncology patients.
* Managing own clinical caseload
* Experience and knowledge of breast Cancer
* Clinical audit/research
* Writing guidelines, protocols and standard setting
* Experience of User Involvement
* Experience working with black and ethnic minority communities
Skills
* Skills in assessing and reviewing complex health problems.
* Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of MDT.
* Able to work across professional boundaries within the Trust and externally.
* Ability to maintain flexibility to meet service needs
* IT competent
* Organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Service Development and/or Change Management skills
Knowledge
* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
* Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
* Understanding of what the NHS Constitution means to you, and your responsibilities to the public, patients and colleagues.
* Knowledge of research and implementation into practice.
* Knowledge and understanding of Breast Cancer care and treatments
* Knowledge of local and national initiatives/strategies relating to breast cancer, i.e. NHS Cancer Plan and NICE Improving Outcomes Guidance.
Qualifications
* 1st Level Registered Nurse
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent specialist qualification/experience.
* Recognised Teaching/Assessing. Mentorship and/or Preceptorship training
* Advanced communication skills or counselling skills training.
* Educated or working towards Masters qualification
* Breast qualification or relevant Oncology training
Other Requirements
* Able to fulfil Workplace Health & Wellbeing requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments, if necessary). Including clearance on blood borne viruses, in compliance with Trust Policy.
