£16.03ph + overtime paid at time and a half and double time depending on hours worked, weekend work, bank holidays etc

Our client was founded in 1904, as patternmakers, and now also repair damaged textile machinery parts, making new where the parts are damaged beyond repair. Certain types of parts maybe considered a speciality but, most often, the mix of work is as it arises. They are now looking to recruit a multi skilled Engineering Machinist.
The Position
The engineering machinist will be involved In all aspects of repairing work, varying from turning large rollers, stripping and rebuilding items such as gearboxes, pumps, shafts, etc., making new accurate and well-finished parts as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately measuring damaged parts to enable new parts to be produced
Welding worn parts in order to re-machine them to original dimensions (welding not absolutely essential)
Cutting raw material for machining or fabrications as the need arises, and doing the whole job
Ability to use lathes, 3 metre Colchester Mastiff, Mascot & Student manual machines
Milling on Bridgeport and Boko universal and Adcock Shipley horizontal mills; no CNC
Ideal attributes
Apprentice or formally trained background
A good working knowledge of machining, and of related engineering processes
Ability to work safely and independently
Ability to work in both Imperial and Metric, often on the same job
A good standard of ability to finish a part properly, accurately, and looking right
