Llanarth Court Hospital is a large forensic mental health hospital providing a secure environment consisting of medium, low and open rehabilitation settings for men and women with mental illness and or personality disorder. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an expanding Therapy Service. We are looking for a highly motivated and creative Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy team at Llanarth Court Hospital.
The candidate should have good leadership and communication skills. The role will be to provide a high quality service that meets the needs of the patient groups on our busy forensic wards.
Responsibilities:
1. Managing members of the therapy team.
2. Overseeing service provision in a variety of areas.
3. Providing supervision to junior staff.
4. Delivering a range of innovative interventions that motivate and engage individuals to improve their occupational skills and mental wellbeing.
5. Assessing, intervening and evaluating progress in line with MDT care plans.
6. Finding new and creative ways to work with clients with a range of presenting difficulties.
7. Involvement in reducing restrictive interventions, including managing incidents of violence and aggression where required.
8. Good clinical note taking and planning skills.
9. Good time management and engagement in department meetings and supervision.
Qualifications:
1. Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
2. Registration with the HCPC.
Experience:
Experience of working in a healthcare setting and/or working with clients with mental health diagnosis or challenging behaviours would be desirable. However, there will be training and learning opportunities. Supervision will be provided by a qualified clinician.
