JOB PURPOSE
To ensure that all actions are governed by company KPI’s and objectives. To maximise branch sales above company targets. To minimise branch stock loss and control branch costs within company budgets. To ensure that the company’s policies and procedures are adhered to at all times. To recruit, train and develop branch staff to a pre-determined level of efficiency that is acceptable to the company. To maintain exceptional store appearance and merchandising standards that complies with the Select vision.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
STORE PROFITABILITY & LOSS
1. Be aware of the need for adequate staffing levels at all times so as to provide good customer service.
2. Ensure store controllable costs are monitored regularly.
3. Ensure all utilities, i.e.: heating, lighting and water are used in the most economical manner.
4. Ensure there is no company property abuse; this includes stationery, telephones and cleaning materials.
5. Comply with the company Loss Prevention Manual.
6. Manage stock levels and make key decisions about stock control.
7. Initiate changes to improve the business, e.g. revising opening hours to ensure the store can compete effectively in the local market.
8. Evaluate solutions considering time, cost, quality and revenue.
SALES/CUSTOMER SERVICE
1. Ensure customers are provided with courteous, helpful service and assistance when advice is requested.
2. Motivate and manage staff to increase sales and ensure efficiency.
3. Ensure the branch and staff comply with all the laws relating to selling as laid down by the company.
4. Respond to customer complaints and comments.
5. Promote the company locally by liaising with local schools, newspapers and the community in general.
6. Build an atmosphere within the store to encourage customers to return.
DISPLAY AND PRESENTATION
1. Organise promotions, displays and events.
2. Implement branch layout as per guidelines.
3. Check merchandise deliveries are correct and in good condition and take appropriate action where necessary if not.
4. Understand local market and store's position within it.
MAINTENANCE/HOUSEKEEPING
1. Ensure all areas on and off the sales floor are cleaned regularly and that a high standard of hygiene is maintained.
2. Ensure the branch is maintained in a safe condition and in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act and refer any issues to your Divisional Manager.
SECURITY
1. Control branch stock loss levels to within the company budgets.
2. Protect the company against theft from the till by observing the security regulations at the cash desk.
3. Make maximum use of store security systems and company policies with regard to bag checks, lockers and shoplifting procedures.
4. Ensure the security of the store keys.
5. Be aware of all possible areas of stock loss with regard to admin stock control and pilferage.
6. Be aware of the necessary actions to be taken in the event of an emergency and supervising these quickly and efficiently as detailed in the company policies.
7. Ensure correct security measures are carried out when taking monies to and from the bank.
ADMINISTRATION
1. Be responsible for all cash reconciliation within the branch.
2. Carry out daily/weekly administration procedures in line with company policy.
3. Prepare the branch for stock takes and oversee with internal auditors.
PERSONNEL
1. Maintain staff levels/recruitment to the agreed budget.
2. Maintain high standards of appearance of staff with regard to company uniform.
3. Ensure all members of staff are fully aware of their job responsibilities within the guidelines of their job description.
4. Ensure the maintenance of accurate personnel details in store and sent to Head Office.
5. Carry out staff appraisals as directed.
6. Be responsible for general welfare and discipline of sales staff through liaison with the HR department.
7. Ensure all legal employment notices are displayed and maintained on the notice board as directed by the company.
COMMUNICATION
1. Liaise with Division Management on all matters, including those regarding branch staff control as required.
2. Be aware of which personnel to contact at Head Office for information and advice.
3. Update colleagues on company performance, new initiatives and other pertinent issues.
4. Attend area meetings as requested.
5. Communicate regularly to help colleagues achieve goals.

1. Actively promote the benefits of excellence in teamwork.

3. Develop team to ease difficulty of colleagues.

2. Ensure that actions do not endanger the safety of other members of staff or the public.
3. Report potential hazards to Division Management immediately.
4. Be responsible for maintaining the hygiene standards and cleanliness of all areas of the store including the staff room.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
1. Actively seek development opportunities.
2. Reassure, guide, help and support colleagues to achieve right first time.
3. Develop colleagues to be able to run the store in their absence.
4. Give colleagues the time to grow and learn from their mistakes.
5. Delegate to junior management to head up Divisional Manager visits.
DUTIES CONTINUED:
1. To be a Branch key holder registered with the police.
2. Key holders are liable to be called out to the store out of working hours in the event of a disturbance or emergency.
