Salford Primary Care Together is a community interest company that runs a variety of services across Salford and the Wider region from a healthcare perspective - this includes several GP surgeries as well as all out of hours GP services in the region.
We have 1 x full time position based at our Willow Tree Health Centre, the SPCT contract may require you to travel to our other sites based in Little Hulton and Eccles.
As a Medical Secretary, it will be your responsibility to aid in the seamless running of the practice by the completion of administrative tasks in an efficient and accurate manner. You will have strong and consistent communication skills which will be utilised in a friendly approach towards all patients, visitors and colleagues. You will be able to work well collaboratively as well as individually in a fast-paced, care centric environment to produce the highest quality of patient care, and organisational priority here at Salford Primary Care Together.
Responsibilities:
* Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
* Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team.
* Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary healthcare team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
* Typing of referral letters and general correspondence.
* Confidently using the e-referral system.
* Keeping referral templates and forms within the clinical system up to date.
* Scanning referral letters on to patients’ records if required.
* Liaising with the hospitals and secondary care about patient appointment and test result queries.
* Dealing with queries raised by Doctors, Assistant Practice Manager, and Patients.
* Recording of incoming and outgoing insurance reports, allocating said reports to the Doctors and monitoring that payment is received.
* Photocopying of medical records when requested by Insurance Companies, Solicitors or Doctors.
* Managing the stock levels and ordering of all secretarial and practice stationery.
* To attend and minute meetings as requested.
* General secretarial and administrative duties for the GPs and Assistant Practice Manager.
* Entering of test results and sending letters to patients who require appointments etc. (when time allows).
* To carry out any other duties as have reasonably been requested by the Assistant Practice Manager on behalf of the Head of SPCT Practices and Operations Manager which have been discussed with you, and not to unreasonably withhold agreement.
