We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic Apprentice Production Chef to join our team. Joining our small but successful community-owned pub as an Apprentice Chef offers a unique opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a supportive environment. Here, you will benefit from hands-on experience with multiple menus that cater for a wide audience.
Annual wage
£13,312 to £23,795.20 a year
Wage range is dependent on age and experience. There is a bonus scheme and we would look to increase pay in line with experience and good performance.

Typically Wednesday to Sunday, 10.00am to 8.00pm, with some split shifts and at least 1 x 30 minute (minimum) break each day.

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* An average day will be a mix of learning, practicing and helping with various kitchen tasks
Typical duties will include:
* Prepping ingredients
* Practicing your knife skills
* Making stocks and sauces
* Baking - helping to prepare dishes
Taking on more complicated tasks as your skills develop:
* Cleaning and helping to restock the kitchen
* Assisting the Head Chef with special events
* Learning how to put together a menu including costings

* Check, prepare, assemble, cook, regenerate, hold and present food meeting the needs of the customers and maintaining organisational standards and procedures.
* Use kitchen tools and equipment correctly to produce consistently high quality dishes according to specifications.
* Take responsibility for the cleanliness, organisation and smooth running of the work area.
* Produce dishes to suit individuals’ specific dietary, religious and allergenic needs as required.
* Operate within all regulations, legislation and procedural requirements.
* Complete and maintain documentation to meet current legislative guidelines.
* Use effective methods of communication with all colleagues, managers and customers to promote a positive image of yourself and the organisation.

Your training plan
* The successful candidate will work towards achieving their Apprenticeship Standard qualification in Production Chef Level 2
* A dedicated work-based trainer will be assigned to the candidate to provide them with support and guidance throughout the course
* This is a predominently work-based programme with College attendance required once a month
* All learning will take place at the candidate's place of employment/College and within their contracted working hours
* Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
