I’m the Service Director - Public Realm, Highways & Waste Management here at Bedford Borough Council. And I’d like to thank you very much for looking at the exciting opportunity that is the Head of Public Realm, Waste & Resource Management. It’s an interesting role, a very challenging role that combines a whole range of different functions from the public realm, waste and resource management responsibilities, delivering multi-million-pound transformational projects to improve our services to both residents and businesses of the borough. You will be responsible for the creation and delivery of up-to-date environment/sustainability related policies, procedures and plans; fulling a statutory and customer focussed role, protecting councils parks, open spaces and water courses as well as ensuring a suitable and sufficient bereavement service, waste, recycling collection service, street cleansing and grounds maintenance service for a growing borough. And underpinning all of that, our climate change program, where we’ve got some ambitious climate targets to achieve for our population.
