Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Polymer Processing Specialist to join our team at FlexSea.
About the Role
This is a dynamic and challenging position that requires a strong understanding of polymer processing and a passion for innovation. As an Advanced Polymer Processing Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring equipment uptime and reliability by troubleshooting equipment failures and performing routine maintenance.
You will adjust machinery to improve line efficiency and work with the technical team to maintain smooth operation of the line and production of material R&D runs as well as production schedule.
Key Responsibilities
* Start up and operate extrusion equipment according to approved parameters.
* Process bio-derived/engineering polymeric materials.
* Maintain production equipment elements like start-up, operation, changeover, shutdown, and preventative maintenance.
* Identify in-process defects and troubleshoot related equipment to ensure quality of materials produced.
* Report mechanical or operational errors to supervisor.
* Suggest adjustments to tooling to produce product that meets customer specifications.
* Adjust processing parameters to maintain the product within the approved specification.
* Ensure the quality of the products (QC) during production.
* Maintain consistent and documented compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) procedures.
* Keep the work area clean and organised.
* Perform manual tasks such as loading and supplying production line items and reworking and packaging products.
Requirements
* Knowledge of extrusion techniques, experience with bioplastics/engineering materials preferred.
* Autonomy in operating, setting, running, and cleaning extrusion lines.
* Ability to adjust machine parameters as necessary to maintain production.
* Excellent understanding of basic mechanical and electrical machine operation.
* Compelling evidence of complex technical problem-solving, trouble-shooting processing issues.
* Understanding of polymer chemistry preferred.
* A good level of mathematical proficiency is a must.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around $80,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
