Working within Asset Support and Outage Excellence (UK), Mechanical Project Lead Engineers will be providing support to Power Plant Projects, Outages and Maintenance activities across the UK. Your responsibilities
• The post holder will be responsible to a Team Leader for ensuring that work targets and objectives are satisfactorily completed across the main KPI’s (safety, time, cost, quality, technical performance and compliance)
• To support and represent the team leader when not available.
• To provide additional guidance, technical support to other team members.
• A flexible attitude, innovative approach, desire for new challenges and the ability to work within a small & medium size team are key characteristics.
• Responsible for delivering multiple Projects across all disciplines and outages, working closely with the Energy Asset Operations, Asset management, Strategic Technical Services and OEMS’s ensuring process compliance, CDM compliance and the highest standard of HSSE performance. Project delivery and management duties to include: -
o Manage delivery of projects as defined by the Stakeholder, in line with contract, procurement and project management processes.
o Lead project teams as required dependent on project complexity.
o Establish and maintain relationships with Stakeholders to allow communication and collaborative working.
o Deliver project charters which clearly define objectives, expectations and communication plans.
o Develop SD (Strategy Decision) and FD (Financial Decision) papers with supporting information.
o Develop technical and contract specifications to allow procurement tendering processes to proceed.
o Develop and manage the budget required to deliver the project.
o Manage the Health, Safety, Security and Environment aspects of the asset project and to the Stakeholder standards.
• Technical design and delivery of low to high risk technical improvement projects.
• To review and develop any operation & maintenance packages including critical spares allowing a comprehensive handover to the Stakeholder.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the project management and quality assurance systems through the job plan improvement and failure reporting utilising corrective action system (FRACAS) processes including root cause problem solving where required.
• Manage and contribute to the improvement of safety performance including regular audits of the work control management process.
• Network, peer review and benchmark across all Uniper departments and external companies to ensure that best practice is employed in area of responsibility.
• Manage delivery of maintenance and warranty within the required timescales determined by the risk and in line with contract management and work planning and scheduling processes.
• Support the development of Asset Support UK, UK Power Plant staff and wider Asset Management initiatives.
• Responsible for ensuring that latest developments of industry best practice in terms of HSSE management are implemented and maintained and that adopted practices are routinely reviewed for effectiveness. Ensuring that the appropriate level of monitoring is implemented and maintained during works.
• Working with financial controlling to maintain accurate, live project cost data .
• Lead Engineers role to include the ownership and delivery of certain actions within role specific PEMs. Deliver compliance register actions and document management. Develop and review the strategies for attaining compliance and deliver the strategies using SAP and planned maintenance
• Trained and competent in safety assessment by producing such documents as risk assessments, method statements, manual handling, hot work assessments etc.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to the role by clearly identifying practical and effective means of improving technical, commercial or procedural aspects related to the role.
Your profile
Essential
• An HNC or engineering degree qualification and/or engineering craft based qualification in an appropriate Electrical or Mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent with appropriate industrial experience.
• A broad understanding of Project Management techniques and Power Station operations.
• A broad knowledge and experience of electrical or mechanical equipment maintenance in more than one power plant area e.g. Mechanical Balance of Plant including Heat Recovery Steam Generators, Steam and Gas Pressure Systems and rotating plant.
• A broad knowledge and experience of maintenance activities in an engineering skill spanning more than one plant area.
• Knowledge of current policies and procedures which affect the management of the Station and which are relevant to the role.
• To be able to challenge appropriately to ensure projects are suitably defined and agreed to optimise business value.
• A good working knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation and standards to IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent.
• A proven ability to identify and analyse situations by isolating key issues, evaluating relevant data and drawing appropriate conclusions.
• Planning and organising skills to include effective prioritising, resource management and a long term strategic focus.
• Fault finding and problem-solving skills.
• Root cause analysis of a problem to produce a solution.
• To carry out technical investigations and produce associated reports.
• To produce monthly project reports against agreed KPI’s.

• Contract and project management skills to be able to run several contracts within a project which involve on/off site working to include the health, safety and environmental aspects as well as the commercial and technical issues.
Desirable
• APMP or Prince 2 qualification in project management
