Role: ASD Learning Support Assistant
Contract: Full time, long-term contract
Working hours: 08:45 - 15:45
Start date: As soon as possible
Salary: £90 - 95 per day
I’m working on behalf of a fantastic special school that are looking for a dedicated and passionate learning support assistant (LSA) to join their close-knit team as soon as possible. The school supports students with a range of complex learning needs. This particular role involves supporting students with autism (among other associated needs) so they require people who are confident in ASD and challenging behaviour.
The school is located on stunning grounds and has outstanding facilities to cater for their students' needs. This includes sensory based rooms, swimming pool, forest school, farm animals and an abundance of outdoor space. I have placed a number of LSA’s at this school and I can confidently say what a lovely team they are and what an amazing environment it is to work in.
The role:
The role of an LSA will involve a mixture of general classroom support and 1:1 work in a range of different subjects. For this particular role, you will be working with a year 7 class. Being proactive is absolutely essential to be successful in this role - they require people who really want to be there and make a real difference.
Due to the students' needs, they may be defiant or demonstrate tricky behaviour. Therefore, being calm and confident in managing this is essential. Ideally, you will have previous experience in a special school. However, the school welcomes applicants with relevant experience, such as support workers with ASD experience or candidates from mainstream education.
The ideal candidate will be able to drive, have access to their own car and have an enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain one).
