Key Responsibilities:
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
Providing facilities and maintenance support services to labs, their equipment and infrastructure, ensuring they meet the needs of the organisation and its employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support the Lab Services Manager with the maintenance and renewal of scientific equipment contracts and organising equipment repairs on a daily basis.
2. Supporting the CAFM or associated systems through inputting asset number data for all equipment, tracking warranties and service contracts.
3. Managing repairs of equipment and the associated paperwork and organising if they should be in house or arranged through others.
4. Regular interface with scientific colleagues across differing areas and on occasion taking the lead in discussions.
5. Raising and issuing purchase orders, ensuring Finance are aware of any bills to be paid either for equipment or contractors.
6. Liaising with service engineers and the wider Facilities Management team and ensuring RAMS, building access and permits to work are correct and available.
7. Informing Finance when the work is completed or items are delivered, ensuring this is done at the earliest opportunity.
8. Inputting to all lab service agreements including renewals, cost negotiations, service levels, delivery and associated relationships.
Experience & Knowledge:
Essential:
1. Demonstratable experience in managing the maintenance of laboratory assets.
2. Managed service delivery to a demanding customer group.
3. Managed the relationships with supply chain.
4. Understanding of various asset types in relation to laboratory equipment and facilities management infrastructure assets.
5. Managed multiple tasks at any one time, such as contractor admin, ensuring all tasks are successfully completed.
6. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of laboratory categories, infrastructure, and associated maintenance.
2. Worked in a support function in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector.
3. Used a Computerised Maintenance Management system such as Amici or Agility.
4. Worked with contractors and raising maintenance contracts.
Education & Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSE’s qualified or equivalent
