Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate administrator to join our friendly team of nurses and secretaries. We are a very busy team caring for respiratory patients both in the hospital and at home. The successful candidate will need to be hard working and flexible and have an excellent telephone manner. A large part of this role will involve talking to patients/relatives on the phone. They must be computer literate and have some audio typing skills.
Main duties of the job
* Making clinic appointments and arranging home visits.
* Typing letters following clinics and visits.
* Answering the telephones and taking relaying messages.
* Updating respiratory databases.
* Inputting data for the national Asthma and COPD audits.
* Ordering of stock and equipment.
* Photocopying.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for providing high standard administrative and clerical services to the respiratory service. They will be a point of contact for department enquiries and act as a liaison officer between patients and clinical staff.
* Book appointments for respiratory patients.
* Contact point for enquiries from wards and internal departments.
* Check voicemail messages on a regular basis.
* Update nurse contacts on PIMS.
* Type up medical records following visits/contacts with patients.
* Ensure Data Quality standards are met and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
* Develop a high standard knowledge of the PiMS system.
* Good knowledge of e-procurement and responsible for ordering stocks.

ESSENTIAL
* Previous administrative experience.
* Organisational skills.
* Good standard of basic education.
* Good communication skills.
* Team working.
* Able to use initiative.
* Good personality.
* Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Evidence of computer literacy.
* Familiar with PIMS.
* Audio typing skills.
* NVQ 3 in Administration.
* Experience in NHS working.
