Overview:
The DevOps at Client's R&D is the cornerstone of the SaaS initiative, driving deployment excellence and product quality through a software-defined approach to operations and infrastructure. We are looking for an individual with a passion for both development and infrastructure, who dreams of programmatically controlling the full stack needed to run high quality SaaS products.
The Principal DevOps engineer will be part of a dynamic team, collaborating with the Client's Cloud Application Delivery to build out a release pipeline for their products and services. The DevOps engineer will be participating by helping to ensure the infrastructure portion of the service stack has an SDLC and that the processes and environments force quality and correctness into the delivery cycle prioritizing service Availability, Performance, Capacity, Security and Compliance.
The successful candidate will be recognized as a powerful voice in the devops/infrastructure-as-code domain, able to articulate deep and broad knowledge in a SaaS environment. You will take complete ownership of issues and of the success of your customers and peers in the build and support of this internal PaaS offering.
Responsibilities:
1. Build, deploy and maintain our infrastructure as code on large scale multi-site deployments using Terraform.
2. Develop CI/CD pipelines to deploy software in a cloud native platform (Azure, Kubernetes).
3. Automate workflows to help pushing the limit of the infrastructure - Troubleshoot issues until root causes are understood on high traffic production systems.
4. Implement and enforce best DevOps and security practices.
5. Be responsible for identifying bottlenecks and improving performance of our infrastructure.
6. Choose, deploy and manage tools and technologies to build and support a robust infrastructure (Monitoring/Deployment/self-healing).
7. Automation of business/deployment/validation processes.
8. Develop/Test/Apply software configuration management.
9. Develop/Test/Run Software release procedures/pipelines.
10. Interact with users to coordinate infrastructure changes.
11. Participate in the testing of functionality, operability, deployment, and performance for application or infrastructure changes.
12. Evangelize SDLC processes for infrastructure change.
13. Participate in tool authoring, integration and extension via REST or SOAP.
14. Drive, define and deploy system monitoring with thresholds and actionable alerts.
15. Mentor junior engineers and those to whom SDLC over Infrastructure is still unknown.
16. Perform tasks related to securing and keeping the products, tools, and processes that you are responsible for securing.
Qualifications:
• BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
Required Skills:
1. Knowledge and hands on experience with Linux (admin, networking, scripting).
2. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform HCL or Azure ARM.
3. Knowledge and hands-on experience with Cloud infrastructure (Azure).
4. Knowledge and hands-on experience with Cloud Native Technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes/AKS, LXC, Helm, Prometheus.
5. Understanding Java, JVM and application servers concepts.
6. Basic knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, UDP, VPN, DNS, TLS).
7. Basic knowledge of Computer security.
8. Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
9. Self-motivated & willing to learn.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
11. Able to take direction and then deliver work autonomously.
12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
13. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
14. Comfortable working remotely with people in other geographic regions.
