This post is a Fixed term/Secondment for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 chest X-ray (CXR) Reporting Radiographer to join our busy, friendly team. We would also welcome applications from qualified MSK X-ray reporting Radiographers (appendicular and axial skeleton).
The post holder would provide high quality, autonomous X-ray reports for Chest, Abdomen and musculoskeletal X-rays.
The post holder must hold:
- BSc In Radiography or equivalent
- HCPC Registration
- Appropriate Postgraduate certificate in Clinical Reporting
Flexible approach to working or part time hours will be considered and can be discussed at interview.
Base site may be Prince Charles Hospital or Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The post holder will have a lead clinical role as a reporting Radiographer. The scope of the reporting would involve interpretation of Chest, Abdomen and/or Musculoskeletal (Appendicular and Axial Skeleton) depending on experience and qualifications.
A full range of examinations would be reported by the successful applicant including Accident and Emergency, Inpatient, Outpatient and GP X-rays within your current scope of practice and competence. This is a full-time reporting role and there would be no requirement for clinical radiology working within modalities. Your reporting sessions would be protected and we would invest time in developing you and ensuring that you had CPD time incorporated within the role.
We would like the successful applicant to be part of our innovative radiographer led single cancer pathway (SCP) GP chest x-ray hot reporting project. This project has had significant benefits for our GP patients, whereby our Radiographers provide immediate CXR reports and feedback results to patients, organising same day CT scans where appropriate. This streamlining of the radiology element of this pathway has reduced waiting time by 85%. Full training would be provided.
The post holder would be responsible for clinical liaison with Radiologists and other clinicians who refer patients to Radiology, flagging urgent and unexpected findings when appropriate to the referrer and facilitating further imaging where appropriate with the support of a Radiologist.
