Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team and play a vital role in managing costs and ensuring the financial success of our projects.
Role Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of surfacing and highway projects, ensuring cost control, value engineering, and contract compliance. Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor and working closely with Project Managers, Clients, and Subcontractors, you will provide accurate financial reporting and support the successful delivery of projects within budget and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial reports.
* Conduct detailed cost analysis, value engineering, and risk assessments.
* Administer contracts, including NEC and JCT forms of contract, ensuring compliance and managing variations, claims, and final accounts.
* Procure subcontractors and suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage commercial relationships.
* Measure and value completed work, processing payments and resolving any commercial disputes.
* Work closely with the site teams to ensure accurate record-keeping, cost tracking, and financial controls.
* Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Assist in pricing new tenders and estimating project costs.
Requirements
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
* Previous experience in Highways, Surfacing, or Civil Engineering within a contractor environment.
* Strong knowledge of NEC, JCT, and other standard forms of contract.
* Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and attention to detail.
* Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
* Full UK driving licence (as site visits may be required).
