Europe's top cancer charity, Cancer Research UK, has teamed with the University of Cambridge to create the world class Cambridge Institute (CI) situated on the Addenbrooke's Biomedical Campus in Cambridge. The Halim lab has several ongoing clinical collaborations.The Institute's research ranges from basic cancer biology through translational research to clinical application. The Halim lab ( https://www.cruk.cam.ac.uk/research-groups/halim-group ) is recruiting as highly talented and motivated scientist to join a vibrant and collaborative tissue immunology group within the University of Cambridge, CRUK Cambridge Institute. We are interested in understanding the role of innate lymphoid cells in regulating the immune response in tissue-homeostasis, inflammatory diseases and cancer. We focus on the ability of ILC to regulate both innate and adaptive immunity (Stockis et al Sci Immunol 2024, Halim TYF et al. Immunity 2018, Schuijs MJ et al. Nature Immunology 2020, Stockis J et al. Immunology 2019). Our long-term goal is to reveal novel fundamental immunological mechanisms related to ILC biology and immune regulation, and therapeutically modulate these in cancer and chronic inflammation. We are recruiting for a 3-year fixed term, with the possibility for future contract extension. As a postdoctoral researcher in the group, you will drive research projects that utilize novel in vivo and in vitro models to assess the function of immune cells in different disease models, as well as study signalling pathways and downstream mechanisms using cutting-edge approaches. You will join a collaborative and highly motivated team of researchers in a top ranked university and research institute. Our group is further supported by world-leading core facilities ( https://www.cruk.cam.ac.uk/core-facilities ) which researchers are encouraged to utilize to their fullest potential. Candidates should have or be about to receive a PhD in immunology, and be able to demonstrate the following skills: Mouse experimental procedures, tissue processing, isolation and phenotyping/manipulation of cells using: o Advanced flow cytometry o Immunological assays, IF microscopy, and cell culture o Molecular biological techniques (i.e. cloning, viral vector design/production, genome editing strategies) o Bioinformatic analysis (i.e. experimental design of bulk or single cell transcriptomic experiments, generation of high-quality datasets, independent or collaborative analysis of data, experience with myeloid/granulocyte transcriptomics) o Immunometabolism experience (i.e. metabolomic profiling, Seahorse analysis) o Demonstrated creative and independent work in your area of expertise (pre-print, or peer reviewed) Candidate should have experience and/or a strong understanding in: ¿ Mouse models of type-2 inflammation, including chronic infection or other inflammatory disease. ¿ Type-2 inflammation ¿ Training and supervising junior lab members in related research projects. The following additional skills are highly valued: ¿ High-parameter IF or mass-spec imaging, spatial transcriptomics, and associated image analysis.
