Job Description
The Aquatics & Park Supervisor oversees the planning, implementing, administering, supervising, instructing and evaluating of various recreation and aquatic programs/activities related to the Cambridge Area Community Pool and Ripley Park. Performs related work as required, including the supervision of department staff and volunteers. Reports to the Executive Director. The supervisor’s office is located in the Cambridge Area Community Pool; however, travel between locations is required.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.
* Responsible for all operations of the Cambridge Area Community Pool & Ripley Park.
* Responsible for the direct supervision of both the Pool & the Park Manager and the indirect supervision of the lifeguards and seasonal park staff, which includes: gatehouse workers, concession stand workers and grounds and maintenance workers.
* Lead monthly aquatics staff meetings, as well as annual spring lifeguard, swim instructor and park employee in-services.
* Responsible for all staffing decisions of all aquatics & park staff with input from the Executive Director.
* Responsible for maintaining records and reports.
* Responsible for purchasing and maintaining inventory of all aquatic & park supplies and maintenance equipment.
* Program and coordinate two seasons of swim team.
* Works with Community Outreach and Communications Coordinator to market the Cambridge Pool and Ripley Park, including maintaining social media presence.
* Work with school district staff to coordinate use of the pool for physical education and Summer School swim lessons.
* Works closely with the Cambridge Foundation to ensure a healthy and positive partnership.
* Enforce policies to maintain the physical appearance of the pool and Ripley Park.
* Recruit, maintain, and market pool memberships and park passes/shelter rentals.
* Research and grant writing to support the pool.
* Maintain effective public relations with the Cambridge school district, businesses and other community organizations.
* Develop and manage the aquatics and Ripley Park budget with the support of the Executive Director.
* Attain and maintain Aquatics Facility Operator and Lifeguard certifications.
* Serve as lead for annual Try Cambridge Tri swim course (sprint triathlon) and the Lake Ripley Ride.
* Knowledgeable in state and county licensing guidelines regarding safe swimming pool operation.
* Responsible for maintaining all pool licensing records as required by the WI state statute.
* Responsible for staffing the pool, which may include occasional guarding during the school year.
* Plan and coordinate special events for the pool and Ripley Park.
* Attend bi-weekly CAP leadership team meetings.
* Attend professional conferences and trainings to maintain certifications.
Qualifications
Desired Qualifications:
* Associates or bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management or related field; aquatics management preferred. Certifications including Aquatics Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator, First Aid, CPR/AED, Lifeguard, and Lifeguard Instructor, or ability to attain within first 6 months.
The following knowledge, experience and skills desired:
* Skills and ability to promote, implement, and supervise aquatics programs such as swim lessons, water aerobics, open/lap swim, special rental groups and special events.
* Knowledge and experience in aquatics and park facility operations.
* Customer service skills.
* Considerable knowledge of computer applications, including but not limited to Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and Google Apps.
* Experience in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with coworkers, subordinates, program participants, and the public.
* Experience in supervising employees, including monitoring work activities, providing training, and evaluating performance.
* Self-starter with experience working independently and within a team atmosphere.
* Experience in communicating both verbally and in writing in order to promote recreation/aquatics programs to the community and assist in preparing department brochures.
Hours and Dates:
* Position is a salaried position and is expected to work 40 – 45 hours per week.
Salary/Salary Range
Starting salary range $50,000 - $52,000. This position includes excellent health, dental, and the WRS.
