Your future role
We are looking for multiple Rail Maintenance Technicians to join our Soho Birmingham Depot to support our Class 730 fleet.
To provide technical expertise and support to the project undertaking exam based maintenance, unplanned and planned work, fault finding and rectification and assist the project to meet its obligations in providing the new Class 730 fleet to the customer.
We’ll look to you for:
* Ensures work is performed in a safe and effective manner in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974), Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), Railway Group Standards, and relevant ALSTOM Procedures.
* Undertake exam based maintenance
* Undertake planned and unplanned tasks
* Provide technical support to the depot teams in the provision of fault finding expertise and assistance with train repair activities.
* Provide diagnostic and repairs on electronics and electrical systems
* Have extensive knowledge of 3 phase, single phase and DC power systems and control systems.
* Carry out fault finding and investigate intermittent faults on vehicles either on depot or in service.
* Carry out Testing & Re-Commissioning activities on vehicles and trains in accordance with pre-written test and commissioning procedures.
* Assist in component change outs, and failure reporting for central systems support and reliability growth teams.
* Provide on train fault diagnosis/rectification for units in service.
* Investigate technical problems as instructed by the project support engineering team.
* Undertake test runs to assist in fault finding and resolution of faults.
* Functionally test train borne systems with minimal supervision using a variety of techniques and methods.
* Assist with the validation of documentation issued in support of maintenance and repair activities.
* Provide technical support in connection with special checks and experiments.
* Liaise with the systems support engineers and specialist engineers as necessary.
* Assist in the testing and repair of equipment identified as faulty and removed from trains.
* Where necessary drive the companies vehicle to attend outstations or to attend failed units.
All about you
* Electrical based NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* Practical experience and a sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering aspects of modern Electric Multiple Units.
* IT skills – competent user of Personal Computer, including office packages, e-mail and intranet.
