Statutory Returns Analyst | up to £44k | Yorkshire | Hybrid
We are thrilled to be partnering with a client who is in the market for a Statutory returns analyst to lead their operational engagement with Higher Education Statistics Agency(HESA) and the continual improvement of that process. The client is welcoming exceptional candidates from the FE sector in order to support professionals to up-skill in a dynamic environment. You will be responsible for the development and the day-to-day delivery of Statutory Returns as well as supporting strategic decision-making by senior management.
This will involve mid year and end year external reporting in a business as usual environment. A great opportunity for the successful candidate to drive change and improve processes in the organisation.

Location: Hybrid - Yorkshire | 1-3 days per week
Salary: £37,522 - £43, 349
Benefits: – 15.5% employer contribution and 6.5% employee + 30 days annual leave + University’s closure days + public holidays.
What we need to see as essential:
* Further Education or Higher Education experience.
* Experience working in a Registry function/student records experience.
* Strong understanding of Student Records, SLC, degree apprenticeships.
* Experience working on an MIS or Student Information System.
* Knowledge of the Student lifecycle.
* Proactive & good stakeholder management skills
* Good communication skills
The role:
Reporting to the Data Returns Manager, the successful candidate will be self-starter and assist with HESA Data Futures, working with a team of 3. The statutory reporting team is situated in the planning team with 25 colleagues that look after insight reporting to senior managers. The successful candidate will be central to the ongoing development and embedding of the HESA Data Futures Initiative at Huddersfield. The main priority being the agenda for Student Data quality & governance, to drive the importance and inform senior stakeholders of the main risks and development in relation to Statutory Reporting.
The planning and returns team will have a heavy involvement in working towards graduate outcomes and other smaller returns but the Returns team are responsible for Student data, ITT and Aggregate offshore return. A good opportunity to be the "face" of student data deputising the manager within the organisation. Whereby ad hoc data reporting requests to make an informed decision is something the successful candidate will be able to get involved with. The post holder will bring a wealth of knowledge on student data quality, management of information and the ability to breakdown technical information to non-technical users.
The appointee will have a strong stakeholder management skill and will be able to bring this into the organisation to manage relationships and network with relevant bodies at a point where the organisation is going through a period of growth and change transformation. It is an exciting opportunity for someone to come in and utilise their systematic approach to tease out complexities posed with regulatory reporting in the HE sector to imprint their mark in long term.
Desirable skills:
* Knowledge or experience of statutory returns (HESA DF, HESES, ITT, Graduate Outcomes, etc)
* Experience working with Tribal SITS student records management system
* Experience with SQL scripting and Data Visual platforms (PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView, etc)
* Expertise with Excel in data manipulation and analysis
