Job Description
Start here. Grow here.
Are you ready to support a team of talented engineers and consultants in shaping the future of the water industry?
Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Environment team as a Water Quality Modeller in one of our rapidly growing UK offices, as well as taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. At AECOM, we're at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients. Our clients are primarily water utilities and can also include industrial developments with a range of intakes and discharges and local authorities with long term planning strategies.
Responsibilities:
This role will require the application of water quality assessments in rivers, lakes, transitional and coastal waterbodies. These assessments will include desk-based mass balance analyses based on available data through to detailed deterministic and statistical modelling studies using bespoke surveys, specified and supervised by the project team. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to be part of a talented and diverse team committed to innovation and efficiency.
Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what's possible?
Here's what we're looking for:
* Understanding of water chemistry and the interaction and importance of the different nutrients within the natural environment.
* Ability to apply European environmental legislation to practical real-world problems, such as diffuse pollution assessment, discharge impact assessment, EIA, ES and licence permitting.
* Experience completing mass balance calculations including simple, flow-weighted and Monte Carlo statistical approaches.
* Experience of numerical modelling of coastal environments using MIKE21/3 HD/AD/Ecolab.
* Initial dilution studies using spreadsheet methods and CORMIX as appropriate.
* Generation and use of river flow duration curves at gauged and ungauged sites.
* Technical report writing.
* Experience of MIKE11 or MIKE Hydro Basin for fluvial environments would be advantageous.
