Senior Chartered Surveyor

Newport Norse, working in partnership with Newport City Council, is a highly successful company based in the city of Newport (South Wales), offering a full range of property and facilities management services to the public and private sectors.
The Senior Chartered Surveyor will assist in the delivery of asset management and valuation services to meet prescribed targets in accordance with all relevant policies, standards and legislation. They will be responsible for providing effective day-to-day property and valuation advice to clients and managing a caseload in accordance with initiatives and directives to maintain outputs of appropriate quality. The role will provide advice, guidance, and mentorship to other members of the team and be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of work.
Main Responsibilities
* To undertake valuations of all types of property transactions as required by the Client.
* To undertake the Council's annual cycle of Asset Valuations in compliance with Authority's Financial Regulations, RICS Red Book and CIPFA guidance.
* Provide specialist advice and guidance on valuation related matters and be the focal point of contact for clients for all their day-to-day valuation requirements.
* Ensure the effective management of surplus property pending disposal and ensure effective proactive management of the client's non-operational property portfolio.
* To undertake general estate management duties as and when required by the wider team due to caseload.
* Prepare committee reports and briefings for clients as may be required and attend committee and working groups as necessary.
* To deputise for the Head of Asset Management and Valuation and other team members as and when required.
* To be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of other team members.
* Undertake the training and professional development of team members.
* Responsible for identifying new business opportunities.
* Fee earning at 90% and contribute to the achievement of the business plan objectives and targets.
* This role requires frequent travel to other offices and sites as required.
* Comply with the Group ISO standards, deliver quality assured outputs and promote continuous improvement.
Candidate Requirements
* Professional Chartered Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
* RICS Registered Valuer.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in estates related discipline.
* Extensive experience in a similar or related role.
* Sound knowledge of valuation methodology and all property valuation techniques.
* Experience of working within or with local authorities, and/or large public sector organisations.
* Experience of coaching and supervising others within professional organisations.
* Excellent organisational skills to manage a busy and varied caseload.
* A proven ability to plan, prioritise and organise own and other's workloads effectively in a busy and fast-paced environment.
* Ability to define written and verbal instructions clearly and concisely to be easily followed and understood by teams.
* Ability to think creatively and use initiative to find solutions to complex problems.
* A solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
* Ability to communicate complex information transparently and effectively both orally and written.
* An articulate communicator, confident liaising with decision makers and stakeholders at all levels with strong negotiation skills with the ability to inform and influence.
* Full UK driving license to meet the travel requirements of the role.
