A globally-renowned environmental testing organisation is currently recruiting for a Senior Analyst to join its inorganic laboratory team based in Bedford on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on analytical role where you’ll work with advanced instrumentation and play a critical part in delivering high-quality results.
Senior Analyst responsibilities
Conduct trace inorganic analysis on a variety of samples using established procedures.
Collaborate with extraction staff to prepare samples according to client specifications.
Operate and maintain a range of advanced instruments, including ICP-MS, IC, continuous flow analysers, elemental analysers, UV/IR spectroscopy, TGA, and PSD.
Provide training and guidance to junior analysts and extraction team members.
Lead projects, including method development and validation, ensuring high-quality and timely results.
Review and interpret analytical data for entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot analytical equipment as needed.
Senior Analyst requirements
Degree-level qualification in Chemistry or a closely related field of study.
Proven experience in an accredited analytical testing laboratory – ideally in the environmental/water industry but is not essential.
Hands-on expertise with instruments such as ICP-MS, IC, elemental analysers, and UV/IR spectroscopy. Familiarity with sample preparation techniques (e.g., leachate extraction, digestion).
Demonstrable experience of sample preparation techniques e.g. leachate extractions, whole and partial digestions.
Demonstrated flexibility in analytical approach and ability to cope with high throughput and varied analysis in a fast-paced environment.
Good time management skills, attention to detail and ability to cope under pressure.
Strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
