About the Role
As a Casual Catering Assistant, you will work as part of a successful team. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food and drinks to members of the public. You will also help to set up the tearoom area, moving tables and chairs as necessary, preparing service areas, washing dishes and cleaning equipment.
About You
We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic individuals to join our busy catering team at the 1620s House & Garden, near Coalville, which was recently awarded the hidden gem accolade by Visit England. The successful candidates will support the catering officer and assist with the delivery of high-quality service to customers, including preparing ingredients, cooking and serving food and beverages.
Responsibilities also include preparing the tearoom for daily public service and set-up for private hires and events, which will include moving furniture and equipment, preparing the kitchen and service area, clearing during and after service, and ensuring all areas of work, crockery, and utensils are cleaned and stored following food safety management system and health & safety requirements.
The successful candidate will work confidently within a team environment and deliver excellent customer service skills. The 1620s House & Garden is open Thursday - Sunday plus Bank holidays, April - October. There will be a requirement to cover days/evenings, events, and bank holidays.

1. Have a basic knowledge of Food Safety/Health and Safety
2. Be able to lift and handle kitchen equipment and move dining furniture
3. Ability to work as a member of a team
4. Be able to communicate with staff, customers, and colleagues
5. Have a flexible approach to working, including weekends and bank holidays
6. Excellent customer service skills
7. Willingness to undertake training as required
