About the role
We are recruiting for an Account Supervisor to review book-keeping, review VAT returns and prepare/review management accounts amongst other accounts duties.
Overview of duties
1. Review book-keeping
2. Review VAT returns
3. Prepare/review management accounts
4. Prepare/review financial statements and sole trade accounts
5. Prepare/review corporation tax returns
6. Drafting advice with the support of Managers and Directors
7. Have a good understanding of personal tax and be involved in annual personal tax filings for your clients
8. Have a good understanding of disclosures
9. Manage the affairs of a small portfolio of clients
10. Being first point of contact for your portfolio of clients
11. Liaise with clients on their deadlines and other requirements
12. Assist Managers/Directors with all deadlines including Accounts, Tax, VAT, Payroll and Company Secretarial
13. Ensure you understand what the clients’ principal activities and jobs are (e.g. for a company, what services they provide)
14. Communicating with clients for information where necessary
15. Building strong relationships with clients
16. Assist clients on the setting up and development of internal systems and controls, including implementing suitable accounting software
17. Able to relay with confidence knowledge on tax and other affairs to reassure clients
Person specification
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
1. Have a good awareness of technology in general
2. Self-motivated and able to apply relevant skills to new scenarios
3. Good people and communication skills
4. Ability to work under pressure with accuracy and focus
5. Demonstrates excellent analytical and research skills
Education / and or Experience
1. Minimum of 4 years’ working in an Accounts Practice
2. Have a professional qualification (ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
3. Have experience as a Supervisor or experienced Senior
4. Committed to maintaining technical knowledge to a high level
5. Competent using MS Outlook, Word and Excel
6. Competent using Xero
7. Experience of Iris, Alpha, Quickbooks and Sage 50 would be preferable
