Pharmacy Support Worker Higher Level Stores, Distribution, Procurement
Due to progression of the existing post holder, we have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy support worker higher level to work within Stores, Distribution, and Procurement. You will carry out regular visits to our wards/teams to provide stock topping up and audit checks.
You will work within teams consisting of Pharmacy Support Workers and Pharmacy Technicians but will be expected to work without close supervision in this role. Full training will be provided.
Main Duties of the Job
This exciting role will ensure medicines are delivered safely and efficiently to our patients:
1. Co-ordinate workload within the Stores, Distribution & Procurement team (SDP)
2. Supervise team members within SDP and support training
3. Receive, assemble, check, and distribute medicines as per rota
4. Procure medicines in line with regional contracts and follow up on medicines supply shortages
5. Participate in routine Pharmacy stock takes
6. Participate in the replenishment of resuscitation drugs to wards and teams
7. Support supply of vaccines to the trust premises
8. Ensure housekeeping tasks are completed
9. Ensure stock medicines are replenished against agreed stockists in a timely manner
10. Stock is stored correctly in medicine cupboards, expiry dates are checked, and medicine management audits are completed at regular intervals to ensure standards are maintained
11. Answer queries on the supply and availability of medicines
12. Support ward/teams with maintenance and organisation of pharmacy record keeping and resources, such as delivery notes, information booklets, pharmacy ward memos, and information posters

Job Responsibilities
You will mainly work within the stores, distribution, and procurement team coordinating the workload and supervising the team in assembling and checking stock medicines, preparing medicines for distribution, stock take, ordering, and receipt of medicines. Responsibilities include:
1. Ensuring invoices are paid in a timely manner, checking statements, and following up credits
2. Weekly stock top-up and medicine management audits
3. Ensuring medicine cupboards and clinic areas are kept tidy
4. Answering queries on the supply of stock related medicines
5. Sorting and organising the return of medicines back to pharmacy as per department procedure
6. Allocated sessions within the dispensing team which will include the dispensing of inpatient, leave, discharge, and outpatient medicines including compliance aids and controlled drugs
7. Completing trust mandatory and in-house training

Minimum Requirements
You must hold a GPhC approved level 2 Pharmacy Support Worker qualification or equivalent and have significant experience of working in a pharmacy environment and be able to mentor and train junior healthcare professionals.
