Sports Coach

Salary: £90 - £110 per day

GSL Education’s South Yorkshire branch is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Sports Coach to join our client schools in Wakefield. This is an excellent opportunity for a sports lover with a passion for working with young people, helping them develop their physical abilities, teamwork skills, and overall confidence.
Job Summary:
As a Sports Coach, you will lead and support Physical Education (PE) lessons, extracurricular activities, and sports events, inspiring students to lead active and healthy lives. You will work closely with students of all abilities, helping them develop physical fitness and promoting sportsmanship. The role may also involve providing behaviour support to students, encouraging positive attitudes through physical activity.
Key Responsibilities for a Sports Coach:
* Plan and deliver a variety of engaging PE lessons and sports activities that cater to different abilities and age groups.
* Work closely with students to improve their physical skills, fitness levels, and knowledge of sports.
* Lead sports clubs and extracurricular activities, including competitive school teams.
* Promote teamwork, fair play, and resilience, ensuring all students have the opportunity to participate.
* Support teachers and staff during PE lessons, helping to organise games, activities, and sports events.
* Help manage and maintain sports equipment and ensure a safe environment for all participants.
* Provide support for students with additional needs, ensuring their full inclusion in physical activities.
* Act as a positive role model, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and participation in physical exercise.
Essential Requirements for a Successful Sports Coach:
* Previous experience working as a Sports Coach, Physical Education (PE) Assistant, or in a similar role within a school or sports setting.
* A passion for sports and physical education, with the ability to inspire young people to engage in physical activities.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
* Patience, enthusiasm, and adaptability in working with students of all abilities, including those with additional needs.
* Coaching qualifications in a relevant sport (desirable but not essential).
* Ability to organise and lead sports events, games, and competitions.
* A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
