The role:
Fleet Manager (Fixed-term contract)
Flight Operations Fleet Managers are responsible for achieving a safe and efficient flying operation through effective and dynamic people policy management and support. This key role combines providing meaningful support to flight crew alongside the opportunity to work on exciting engagement initiatives, influence policy management and application and embrace technology and continuous improvement within the department.
This is a fast moving, exciting role within an operational area where no two days are the same, flexibility, adaptability and resilience are key.

What you’ll do:
1. Effective management of corporate employment and departmental policies which relate to Flight Crew.
2. Application of the Absence Management Policy for Flight Crew, especially those who are long term sick and grounded from flying..
3. Management of the Flight Crew fitness to operate processes as necessary. Act with a ‘safety first’ mentality at all times.
4. Responsible for the monthly Fleet CAP management to include accurate recording and the special leave budget.
5. Manage and record Right to Request part-time applications and Special Leave requests from Flight Crew.
6. Act as the main interface between the LHR pilot community and the fleet teams for all people related matters.
7. Support the Pilot Line Managers as required in engagement and recognition of the pilot community.
8. Management of the provision of Flight Crew meals. Identify reporting trends and liaise with Catering and BALPA to ensure speedy and effective resolution.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
9. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, demonstrating stature and credibility.
10. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
11. Demonstrates an awareness of wellbeing, diversity and inclusion issues and where to direct colleagues for support.
12. Strong decision making and problem-solving skills in an operational area with clear and sound outcomes.
13. Able to manage ambiguous situations and apply judgement in policy application.
14. Able to deliver under pressure and to tight timescales..
15. Flexible approach with the ability to deal with multiple issues at one time.
Your experience:
16. Decision making is critical, as I have to think on the spot .
17. Policy and / or people management experience desirable but not essential.
18. I’m a born problem solver and am seen as an expert in processes and procedures .
19. I have operational experience, people management and great coaching skills.
20. Knowledge of Flight Operations desirable but not essential.
21. Proficient in the use of computer systems, such as Excel and Word
