In this position, you will manage and deliver audits and other assurance work across the business, supporting the annual audit plan and providing a sound opinion on the effectiveness of the internal control system. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of audits, as well as other assurance work, utilising your expertise to assess and enhance the control environment. You will be curious, detail-oriented, and capable of using your own initiative to generate pragmatic solutions. As a trusted and credible partner, you will build and maintain relationships across the organisation at all levels while maintaining independence and objectivity. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as a solid understanding of risk, controls, and materiality.Role ResponsibilityDelivering individual audit assignments, end-to-end, working with a high degree of autonomy. Audit delivery will include:Developing a good knowledge of the areas under review identifying key risks and controls.Designing and executing appropriate testing strategies to evaluate control design and operating effectiveness.Agreeing pragmatic management actions to audit findings.Drafting high quality audit reports and communicating findings clearly and credibly.Occasional national or international travel may be required. Completing follow-up reviews (“Issues Assurance”) to ensure audit actions have been implemented effectively.Adherence to the Global Internal Audit Standards and in-house methodology.Building and managing relationships with business stakeholders while maintaining independence and objectivity.Self-identifying training needs to ensure knowledge of external audit standards is up-to-date and develop soft skills, such as relationship building as well as technical or industry knowledge.The Ideal CandidateEssential:A relevant professional qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIA, other accountancy or risk qualifications, or relevant experience.Experience in internal audit, external audit, compliance or accountancy.Strong understanding of the concepts of risk, controls, and materiality.Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.Ability to analyse complex and diverse situations.Ability to use own initiative to generate solutions for the wider group and the Internal Audit function.Comfortable managing your own workload and meeting deadlines without compromising quality.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.Desirable:Experience in one or more of the sectors in which Saga operates.Familiarity with data analytics tools and how they can enhance audit work.A degree-level education.Why join us?At Saga, our people make us special.
