Job Title: Children and Families Social Worker Location: Midlothian, Scotland Pay rate: £35-£40 (depending on experience) Contract: Full-time, Locum contract About the Role: Midlothian Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Children and Families Social Worker to join our dynamic team. As a social worker, you will play a vital role in safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children and young people across the region. You will work closely with families, schools, and partner agencies to provide high-quality support and interventions that help families thrive and ensure the safety and development of children in need. Key Responsibilities: Assess and manage the needs of children and families, ensuring a child-centred approach in all decisions. Provide timely, evidence-based interventions to safeguard children and reduce risk. Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with families and other agencies. Engage with multi-agency professionals, including health services, education, and the police, to deliver coordinated support for families. Manage a caseload and ensure all work complies with statutory guidelines and best practice standards. Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and training to continuously improve service delivery. Prepare reports for Child Protection Case Conferences, Children's Hearings, and other legal proceedings, as required. Build strong, trusting relationships with children and families, focusing on positive outcomes and emotional well-being. Essential Requirements: Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification). Registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or eligible for registration. Demonstrated experience in child protection, family support, and multi-agency collaboration. Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities. Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
