St John’s College, one of the largest Colleges within the University of Cambridge, is seeking to appoint a Head Porter to join our Portering Department. The role involves leading the Porters team, providing a friendly, helpful and professional front of house service for the College whilst maintaining a safe and secure environment.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership and people-management skills, with a solid understanding of relevant legislation. Experience working with young people, conducting investigations, and excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities are key. The role requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage critical incidents confidently, and take a proactive approach to professional development and the use of technology in service management.
