We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Audit Team as an Auditor, with career progression to a Senior Auditor. Your role: The successful candidate will prepare and undertake audits and assist in the delivery of good governance across the Internal Audit Services partnerships. What you will need: This is a career grade role that enables entry at either Auditor, or Senior Auditor levels, subject to meeting the relevant requirements in the Person Specification. Where entry is at a level below Senior Auditor (Band 8), the role provides the opportunity to progress becoming a qualified Senior Auditor, including membership of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors. The Auditor role ( Band 5 ) is a development role for individuals with transferrable skills relevant to the field of internal audit, like strong written and verbal communication, working knowledge of Microsoft Office and with an interest of analytic numerical review and dealing with a variety of people. Entry at or progression to Auditor level ( Band 6 ), will be subject to meeting the required criteria. A broad range of backgrounds will be considered, although post holders are expected to have at least 1 years' experience within internal audit in local government and a level 4 qualification from either the IIA or CCAB. Post holders at this level will be capable of applying critical thinking and independent analytical skills to directed work in accordance with legislation, national and local policy, and guidance. Entry at or progression to Senior Auditor ( Band 7/8 ) will be subject to at least 3 years’ experience in public sector auditing or a related field, and IIA or CCAB qualifications such as the global Certified Internal Auditor designation or equivalent. The post holder will be responsible for recommending testing approaches for each individual audit allocated to them, supervising more junior staff during each audit engagement, and liaising with senior management on matters relating to each audit through extensive expertise in local authority governance, risk management and control systems Why work for us?
